CHIEF FIRE OFFICER (CFO) GREG RENDALL
I Joined the Fire Service as a volunteer in Pauanui in 1986 and transferred to Thames Brigade in 1988, became the Deputy in early 2006 and Chief in December 2006. I have my gold star for 25 years service. I have lived in Thames since the early 1980s, working on the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula building residential and architectural homes. I have a wife and two children and love holidaying locally, cycling, fishing and spending time chilling with the family. I enjoy being part of the Thames Fire Brigade having previously competed in Crash Rescue and then judging, and many participating in the Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand Firefighter SkyTower Stair Challenge.

Joined 23rd August 1982 in Tapu, transferred to Thames in December 1989. Currently the Volunteer Support Officer, and looks after brigades all across the region. Married to Debbie, who is also Treasurer, with three Children, Kelsey, Lauren and Max. Enjoy fishing, Diving and all water sports. Really enjoy being a member of the Thames Volunteer Fire Brigade who are really focused on servicing their community.

STATION OFFICER (SSO) CORRIE LEACH
I joined in 1997 and currently am a Quarry Manager. My family has an extensive history with the brigade. Enjoy a bit of fishing too.

STATION OFFICER (SO) SIOBHAN FLANIGAN
Joined 2009 and current secretary for the brigade. I work at the TCDC. I have 3 children who attend school in Thames. I joined the Thames Fire Brigade because I wanted to be part of something bigger than myself, and to help others. Outside the fire brigade, I enjoy spending time with family, keeping fit, fishing and the outdoors.
Siobhan is also the first female officer in the Brigade's 133 year history, and says "I'm just trying to be a good role model for all those little girls who think it's not an option!"

Joined Fire and Emergency NZ because both my Grandfather and Father were members. Joined the service in Winton, Southland and transferred to Thames in August 2009. Married to ex Senior Firefighter Max Kenny’s Daughter Mary-Anne.

I enjoy being part of the Thames Fire Brigade and being able to serve our community. Thames is a great place and offers a fantastic lifestyle, so I feel lucky to be able to be a part of the Thames community. My interests include fishing/boating, participation in sports, and outdoor activities.

Born and bred on the Hauraki Plains, I work for Shaun Richards Electrical and am a keen fisherman and downhill mountain biker. I have a strong family connection with the fire brigade as my father and uncles were members one of which has a gold star and my pop is a life member.

OPERATIONAL SUPPORT (OS) JIM MAXWELL
Joined: 1960
Occupation: Former Engineer, full time dog walker.
Jim is Thames longest serving current member. In 2018, Jim stepped down as Deputy Chief after 12 years in the role. An original partner of Kopu Engineering. He joined the fire service initially as a messenger in 1960. He has been actively involved in many waterway competitions and road crash rescue challenges, and is a real inspiration to the crew, especially new members. If you want to know anything about the Brigade's history, or just a good yarn, he's your man. He was awarded the Queens Service Medal (QSM) in 2002.

Banksy is the station caretaker and does a great job. An extremely valued member of the brigade and is a bit of an all-rounder when it comes to anything brigade related.

Why did you join: I come from a family where several generations have always been involved in community organisations and being part of the fire brigade is how I give back, and it's fun mixing with a diverse group of people.
Occupation: Sales consultant for Totalspan buildings.
A bit about you: Outside of work and fire brigade I enjoy encouraging my son to get outside and stay off the electronics, fishing, boating, squash and anything outside.

A bit about you: I’m from India. I came into the country in 2012. I’ve worked in West Auckland and I’m presently in charge of Coromandel Peninsula parish. I love hiking, biking, fishing, golf, carving, pottery, and I’m a handy person.

Why did you join: Mainly for my poppa but also because the fire brigade always interested me.
Occupation: Student at Thames High School.
A bit about you: I play soccer, I’m a year 13 at Thames high, I love camping, I’m 17, I want to be an occupational therapist or something along those lines as a job.

FIREFIGHTER (FF) MICHELLE HAYES (MITZI)
When did you join: I joined in 2015 just after my 16th birthday.
Why did you join: I’ve wanted to join since I was little - my dad has been in the brigade since I was 8, so I’ve always been around the brigade and always wanted to be a part of the amazing team of firefighters. When I was growing up (and now) there have always been women in the brigade leading the way for the next generation of girls to step up.
Occupation: I’m currently a student at Waikato University.
A bit about you: In my free time I enjoy playing sport, going out with my friends and running.
When did you join: I joined in 2015 just after my 16th birthday.
