I Joined the Fire Service as a volunteer in Pauanui in 1986 and transferred to Thames Brigade in 1988, became the Deputy in early 2006 and Chief in December 2006. I recently had my gold star presented for 25 years service. I have lived in Thames since the early 1980s, working on the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula building residential and architectural homes. I have a wife and two children and love holidaying on the Coromandel Peninsula, cycling, fishing and spending time chilling out with my family. I enjoy being part of the Thames Fire Brigade having previously competed in Crash Rescue and then judging, and the past 4 years participating in the Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand Firefighter SkyTower Stair Challenge.

Married to Debbie, with three Children, Kelsey, Lauren and Max. Enjoy fishing, Diving and all water sports. Love going on school camps with the kids and getting involved in their sports. Have coached Max’s rugby team for the past 5 years.
Really enjoy being a member of the Thames volunteer Fire Brigade who are really focused on servicing their community.

Occupation: Office Admin at Thames High School.
I have 3 children who attend school in Thames. I joined the Thames Fire Brigade because I wanted to be part of something bigger than myself, and to help others. That somehow led to me taking up the role of secretary of the brigade. Outside the fire brigade, I enjoy spending time with family, keeping fit, fishing and the outdoors.

Born and bred on the Hauraki Plains I work for Shaun Richards Electrical and am a keen fisherman and downhill mountain biker. I have a strong family connection with the fire brigade as my father and uncles were members one of which has a gold star and my pop is a life member.

I moved to Thames in 2015 with my wife, and two daughters (4 & 6) to join the radio station here. I joined the Thames Fire Brigade because I love this little community and the people in it, and felt there was something more I could offer.
When I'm not on air or in a big red truck, you'll catch me firmly engrossed in my piano, playing frisbee golf or fishing on the coast with my daughter....who catches more than I do....

Jim is Thames longest serving current member. An original partner of Kopu Engineering he joined the fire service initially as a messenger. He has been actively involved in many waterway competitions and road crash rescue challenges. He was awarded the Queens Service Medal (QSM) in 2002.

I joined the Thames Volunteer Fire Brigade in 1986 when I returned to live in Thames after a stint in the military.
My wife, Sandy, and I ran a plunging company for many years until selling the business in 2014 then I started working for the Order of St John helping to support their retail operations in Northern Region. Sandy works part time for Plumbing World and is also a volunteer ambulance officer for St John in Thames.
We have 3 children who are now all grown up Tamsin, Samantha and Nicol, along with two sons in laws Richard and Karl, We are enjoying two grandchildren, Issy and Zara.
In our spare time we enjoy spending time with family, volunteering for the fire brigade and St John and we also love a spot of fishing anywhere around the Coromandel.
